RAM assembles is the Rockbund Art Museum’s biennial festival of architectural thinking. The 2025 edition invited all(zone), a Bangkok-based architectural practice led by Rachaporn Choochuey, to serve as Artistic Director. Their concept of “Shanghai Picnic” proposes a flexible, open-ended framework that reactivates underused urban spaces through conviviality, creativity, and ecological awareness. At the heart of the festival is all(zone)’s main structure: Under a Common Sky, Sheltered to Gather. It is not a conventional building, but a shelter. Designed not to endure through permanence, but through reusability and generosity, it is architecture at its lightest and most generous. Together with the Artistic Director, we curated a series of public programmes that fostered dialogue about how to build, how to coexist, and how to adapt and transform.
