"Late Summer School" focuses on rekindling the connection between cultural institutions and knowledge. The aim is to transform the Rockbund Art Museum into a vibrant and interactive space, breaking away from traditional learning models to foster a local community rich in creativity and inspiration. "Late Summer School" views learning as a dynamic, collective journey, encompassing a diverse range of experiences including performances, lectures, dialogues, workshops, dining, writing, and reading. In an era where independent knowledge production and exchange are often constrained, "Late Summer School" seeks to explore radical pedagogical methods and offers a platform for imagining alternative histories and future knowledge through specially designed courses with invited scholars.
The 2024 "Late Summer School: Shanghai Inside/Out" is organised in collaboration with Xiang Zairong with artists and scholars including He Zike, Christina Greiner, Wang Wanna, Pan Lv, Chen Yun and dramaturgy by Wang Yinjie. The 2025 "Late Summer School: Archives as Invitation" is a five day course organised in collaboration with Karachi LaJamia with artists including Kala Kulo and collective Revolutionary Paper.
